At around eight forty am on the twenty-second a female passerby called one hundred ten to
report that a large truck had collided with a utility pole on National Route seventeen
in Sarugakyo Onsen Minakami Town Gunma Prefecture. The driver a fifty-seven-years-old man
from Yokose Town Saitama Prefecture suffered severe blows to
his entire body and was pronounced dead at the scene by a helicopter doctor.
　According to the Numata Police Station the large truck was traveling from Niigata Prefecture to
Numata City and went straight ahead without turning a left curve.
It broke the guardrail went off the road and collided with a utility pole.
The truck overturned and the utility pole was broken.
　According to Tokyo Electric Power Company Power Grid Gunma Branch as a result of
the accident up to approximately eight hundred sixty households
in the town lost power for approximately six hours
from just after nine o'clock am on the same day.
