Sir Simon Kirwan Donaldson FRS (born 20 August 1957) is an English mathematician known for his work on the topology of smooth (differentiable) four-dimensional manifolds, Donaldson?Thomas theory, and his contributions to Kahler geometry.
Biography
Still a postgraduate student, Donaldson proved in 1982 a result that would establish his fame. He published the result in a paper "Self-dual connections and the topology of smooth 4-manifolds" which appeared in 1983. In the words of Atiyah, the paper "stunned the mathematical world."[3]

In 2014, he was awarded the Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics "for the new revolutionary invariants of 4-dimensional manifolds and for the study of the relation between stability in algebraic geometry and in global differential geometry, both for bundles and for Fano varieties."[11]

Research

Donaldson's recent work centers on a problem in complex differential geometry concerning a conjectural relationship between algebro-geometric "stability" conditions for smooth projective varieties and the existence of "extremal" Kahler metrics, typically those with constant scalar curvature (see for example cscK metric).

結論が正則凸性にまで届かなかったことから生じうる新たな問題群への方向付けを試みるために、
[Oh-2,4]で扱ったものに近いと思われる領域として
Coeur'e-Loeb[C-L]によるSerreの問題への反例を取り上げ、
その関数論的構造をE-凸性の理論と関連する立場から調べてみた。

whose canonical bundle is negative at infinity (i.e. on the complement of a compact subset of
the manifold). Another extension of [T] was obtained in [Oh-4,7] asserting a similar conclusion
under certan regularity or curvature assumptions of ∂Ω.
In the latter extension, the conclusion is weaker than the genuine holomorhic convexity,
because it only says that the domain is properly mapped onto a locally closed analytic set
in some C^N.

It is easy to see by a direct computation that the set $\{\sigma^k_A(v_1,v_2); k\in \mathbb{Z}\}$ has no accumulation points in $F$, so that $\hat{F}$:=$F/\{\sigma^k_A; k\mathbb{Z}\}$ is a complex manifold. $\hat{F}$ is non-Stein since so is $\hat{\Omega}$. Since $F$ has a $\sigma_A$-invariant complete K\"ahler metric, $\hat{F}$ has also a complete K\"ahler metric. Combining this with the invariance of $du_1\wedge du_2$, the $\sigma_A$-invariance of the Bergman kernel function of $F$ follows. Thus $\hat{F}$ is a complete K\"ahler manifold with trivial canonical bundle which is positive. Therefore, by the $L^2$ method one can conclude that $\hat{F}$ is holomorphically separable.

東海道新幹線は、16日の雨によりダイヤが大幅に乱れた影響で、17日の一部の列車で発車準備に時間がかかり、始発から大幅な遅れが生じ、直通する山陽新幹線を含む一部の区間で運転を見合わせました。午前8時半過ぎに全線で運転を再開しましたが、午後4時半現在も遅れが続くなど影響がでています。
