glibc-2.2.5のnewsを見ると
* optimizations in the dynamic linker. binaries created by recent binutils
versions start up quicker due to reduced time spend on relocations.
ということでglibc-2.2.5を使うと速くなるらしい。

この情報はprelinkというのを調べていてたどりついたんですけど、
こんなのもあるんですよね

私の認識としては、jakubさんがprelinkなる機構を開発してglibcとbinutilsに取り込まれた
と理解したんですがどうなんでしょう。
それでこれらを使うとkdeとかC++なプログラムの起動が速くなるという風に
理解したんですけどどうなんでしょう。

ちょっと大きいけどprelinlのmanualより
DESCRIPTION
prelink is a program which modifies ELF shared libraries and ELF
dynamically linked binaries, so that the time which dynamic linker
needs for their relocation at startup significantly decreases and
also due to fewer relocations the run-time memory consumption
decreases too (especially number of unshareable pages). Such pre-
linking information is only used if all its dependant libraries
have not changed since prelinking, otherwise programs are relocated
normally.
