As a red-blooded patriotic american I hate soccer.
Yet I can't ignore that its still the most watched TV sport in the world,
while great exciting sports like NFL and MLB aren't.
Someone explain to me: how can such a boring, girly, unappealing sport be watched by people overseas
and do they actually get excited by such a boring sport...is it because foreigners like being bored?
Don't they like excitement like the NFL?

生粋のアメリカ国民として言わせてもらうと俺はサッカーが大嫌いだ。
だが、サッカーが世界で最もテレビ観戦されているスポーツという事実は無視出来ないな。
本当に面白いNFL（アメフト）やMLB（野球）がそうでないにも関わらずね。

Soccer is a Poor mans sport. All you need is a Ball to kick around.
Most kids in 3rd world counties can only afford that.
In fact any kid in any country can easily play the game
because all you need is a ball and a net. So they grow up playing this poor mans sport
and watch it as adults.
The game has been around for thousands of years so these kids are just victims of circumstance
and their positive view of the game is Biased.
I didn't grow up under those circumstances so I feel I have a unique view of Soccer.
And in comparison to other sports, i.e Basketball, American Football, these sports never result in
a Stupid Draw (0-0) like in Soccer which makes soccer games Totally pointless if it ends that way,

実際、どんな国に住む子供でもボールとゴールネットさえあれば簡単に出来る。
だから彼らはこの「貧乏人のスポーツ」をやりながら育ち、大人になってもサッカーを観るんだ。
球蹴りは昔からずっとあるし、そのような環境で育った結果、視野の狭い彼らは
サッカーに対して偏った愛情を抱くのだよ。
幸いにも私はそのような環境で育っていないので、冷静にサッカーに対する独自の意見を持っている。

Soccer may be fun to play, but it is boring to watch. Went to a big friendly match at Giants Stadium
(I know it's not called that any more, but I refuse to give in) and noticed most of the "fans" were looking at their phones
or each other rather than the field until the ball got near a goal.
It was a high-scoring game, for soccer, but still managed to be utterly boring when no one was kicking at a goal.
The enormous field and lack of structure makes much of the passing game pointless with constant turnovers
that just lead to more turnovers.
サッカーは実際にプレーしたら楽しめるのかもしれないけど、観戦するのはウンザリだ。
ジャイアンツスタジアムに注目の一戦（親善試合）を見に行ったことがあるんだけど
（今はその名称じゃないのは分かってるが、俺はそう呼ぶ）そこで気づいたのは、ほとんどの「ファン」は
ボールがゴール付近に来るまでずっと携帯をイジってるかおしゃべりを楽しんでるんだよね、
